Computer Engineering Degrees

Computer Engineering Degrees

Most people own or have ready access to a personal computer. These marvels of modern technology have revolutionized everything from the way we get our news to how we communicate with friends and relatives to how we entertain ourselves. However, the traditional PC or laptop is only one type of computer. Virtually every modern machine and process is computer-controlled. Some computers are tiny, as in the smallest cell phones and MP3 players.
Other computers are actually massive networks of thinking machines, working on terabytes of data and cranking out billions of calculations per second. The common factor making these machines possible is the Computer Engineer. Computer Engineering differs from Software Engineering and Computer Science in that it focuses on the actual hardware that’s responsible for performing the work. Software is the set of instructions used by a computer to get work done.
Without Computer Engineers designing the hardware platform it runs on, the software would be so many useless bits of data. While they need to know the principles of software operation, Computer Engineers are responsible for designing the components of a computing system. Whether that computer is in the Stealth Bomber or under your car’s hood, all computers have similar components and functions, varying mostly in size, shape, and application.
Computer Engineers design everything from the Central Processing Unit to primary and secondary memory storage to input and output methods. Even if they are using off-the-shelf components, they’re responsible for making sure the integration works flawlessly.
Computer Engineering Schools

Education

Highest Petroleum Engineer Salary

 Highest Petroleum Engineer Salary

Petroleum Engineer salary is one of the highest according to reports by PayScale and Glassdoor, which ranges within six figures per year. Some of the biggest factors that affect the Petroleum Engineer salary are the experience level, the previous employer, and location. In this article, we are going to discuss 3 specific paths for those who aim to reach the highest petroleum engineer wage, but first, let’s clarify what petroleum engineering is and the best ways people can start their careers.

What is Petroleum Engineering, and who is a Petroleum Engineer?

Petroleum Engineering is a field that focuses on the assessment of recoverable amounts of resources using detailed evaluation of the physical performance of gas, oil, and water within the porous rock at very high pressure.
Petroleum Engineers are concerned with the activities that have a connection with the production of hydrocarbon which involves crude oil and natural gas. Most of them work hand in hand with geotechnical engineers and earth scientists in exploring the available oil and gas sources. With their combined efforts, they determine the accumulation of hydrocarbon that has a significant impact on the world’s economy.
Petroleum Engineers are responsible for researching and understanding different related fields like geology, geophysics, and petroleum. They need to know how to evaluate formations of things like artificial lift systems, completion of facilities for oil and gas, drilling, economics, engineering, reservoir simulation, proper logging, reservoir engineering, and the design of wells.
Before we dig into details about the salaries and top three jobs for a Petroleum Engineer, let’s know more about the job description itself.

Job Description of a Petroleum Engineer

Some of a Petroleum Engineering primary roles and responsibilities are to oversee how production is carried out, what methods are used for retrieving natural gas and oil from various types of resources, including underground sources. Most Petroleum Engineers work for oil companies while the others could work at universities or research facilities.
They also help in checking out some of the prospected drilling sites for new sources of natural gas. They create recommendations on drilling sites, making reports of the possible cost and creating feasibility studies for the prospected location. Also, part of their task is to design the drilling, prospecting, pumping and storing equipment.
For those engineers working at drilling sites, they mainly oversee the building and operation of subterranean drills, oil derricks and other equipment needed. After the well is established, a Petroleum Engineer will find ways and methods to improve oil and gas production. Highest-Paid in-demand software engineers

Most demand?
As far as the demand is concerned obviously Software developers (who actually develop in product-based companies)are high in demand followed by software testers.
A recent survey by Stack Overflow suggested those who can program in JavaScript are the highest in demand followed by App developers like iOS and Android.
As the technology changes demand software developers shifts so none of these may be valid in the long term.
Most Salaries?
Again developers, but who can actually help in building stuff. For this, learning languages might be of little to no use unless and until you are well versed with Algorithms and data structures and can program well.
Again what I read on stack Overflow
There are just 3% of total programmers who can program in R and Go so definitely they would be having the higher pay scale but as I said it all comes down to your familiarity with Algorithms and data structures because languages can be learned in less than six weeks.
Actually, if you are good enough you will be valued and paid accordingly in the tech industry no matter which field or type you are. Period

The in-demand types of engineers and salaries are those that:
  1. Have good enough communication skills to extract a customer's problem, articulate it, and explain a solution or better yet the advantages of their solution.
  2. Can inspire/motivate other software engineers to work on that solution.
  3. know enough about programming and architecture to make sure their solution is doable and make sure no one is taking advantage of you and maybe make the prototype or minimal viable product.
You will normally find their engineers as lead developers, product owners, to all the way up to CTOs and business owners. The more value you generate (cost of the problem you are solving x the number of people that have that problem) the more you can get paid.

All time Best Engineering Jobs

a mechanical engineer by academic records but chose to work as a mechanic. At first, it was sort of degrading, watching your friends walking in a suit and tie with their fancy PPT presentations and all.
5 years down the line, I earn a 10 fold more than them. Widely respected and regarded.
Own/Drive the most amazing machines a man could.

And they're still pretty much at the same level, anticipating incremental salaries and dreaming about US visits.

Go get it. Do whatever you have to. Pursue your work with passion or make your passion, a means for livelihood.

Another case is a point is a fellow colleague of mine. After graduation, he was jobless for 1 year. He just didn't like the makeshift IT jobs or TSP jobs.

He had long thought and decided to take up a Piping course in Mumbai.
He got good at it, but again, the principal salary was relatively low.
He pushes 6 more months and specializes in Oil Rig design and analysis.
With a lot of difficulty and umpteen trials, he got a job at Petrofac. He had a contract for 6 months. He worked his ASS off coz he never knew any other way out. (he was paid a paltry 38k a month ), This is the Best Engineering Job in India.

He stayed back for 8 more months. Learned every bit that he could. The company wanted to assign him in the Middle East with a really hefty paycheck.

He declined, went back to Bangalore ( our hometown) and started working for L&T at a more respectable pay of 86K a month.
He's been learning newer things every day and refuses to take his much-suggested postings abroad.

Think again how you want to approach this.
If your aim is a 'seedy said' Naukri (plain job), then yes.. You're gonna be paid less for the rest of your life no matter what you do..
